This Bilum Books SBC English for PNG, Grade 3 Student Book A: Terms 1 & 2 is an 'all-in-one' English program. It is designed for students in Papua New Guinea who are learning English as their second (or third) language.
The Student Books have graded reading texts and skills pages. The Teacher Guide has lesson plans and a week-by-week program for teaching the foundation skills of English literacy over the four terms in the PNG school year. Together, the Student Books and Teacher Guide identify the skills and provide the activities needed to develop primary grade level speaking, reading and writing in English.
SBC English supports the Department of Education's Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) Primary English Syllabus for Grades 3,4 and 5. At Grade 3, the content is aligned with the Grade 3 Content Standards in the Syllabus. Assessment tasks in the Teacher Guide give feedback to teachers to ensure that their students achieve those Content Standards by the end of Grade 3.
SBC English is a comprehensive, standards-based English program. It will consolidate the foundation for future learning.
At the Primary level, this standard based program consolidates the foundation skills of English literacy:
- Speaking & Listening (Listening comprehension, talking, oral expression)
- Reading & Comprehension (phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension)
- Writing (handwriting, written expression, grammar and spelling)
