Corporate Responsibility
Theodist is committed to helping the community that has helped us achieve our success. We are proud to be involved with a number of programs that benefit the community.
BUK BILONG PIKININI (BBP)
Buk Bilong Pikinini (books for children) is an independent not-for-profit organisation which was established in the year 2007 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The organisation aims to increase literacy rates in Papua New Guinea by setting up children's libraries in community-based localities.
Buk Bilong Pikinini seeks to provide learning opportunities for the most vulnerable children in society who miss out on formal education and also support those who are fortunate enough to go to school but who lack the most essential tools for literacy. Each library has more than 2000 high-quality children's books as well as educational toys and craft materials.
A literacy-based learning programme is conducted in all libraries on a daily basis and a syllabus has been specially created to cater for PNG children. There is a strong focus on early childhood learning in the mornings but children of all ages can attend library sessions after school.
By partnering with BBP, Theodist has set up a Book shop and Reading Corner in our Port Moresby Showroom. This allows children to learn and grow in another safe and convenient location.
The Sales of books from this Corner go directly to BBP. The purpose of this is to benefit BBP with their goal of giving every child in PNG access to books for both recreational and educational purposes.
Life PNG Care started in 2013. The organisation is all about helping to make a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged or vulnerable children and youth of Papua New Guinea.
Life PNG Care is passionate about seeing the future generations of Papua New Guinea strengthened in mind, body and spirit. They envision a new model for Papa New Guinea, and a way to transform the future, that starts with our children.
Theodist partnered with Life PNG Care inc in 2018, offering support through in-kind donations. In addition, Theodist also contributes through participation in the mentoring program run by Life PNG Care inc.

HP CARTRIDGE RECYCLING PROGRAM
HP Planet Partners return and recycling program enables simple, convenient recycling of original HP inkjet and LaserJet supplies. We ensure that returned products are recycled properly, processing them to recover valuable plastics and metals for new products and diverting millions of tons of waste from landfills. Theodist, as an HP Gold partner is happy to contribute to environmental sustainability, supporting this program by collecting empty cartridges for the HP Cartridge Recycling Program. We have provided collection bins in our Port Moresby showroom. However, the bins can be installed in corporate offices, giving our customers a quick and easy way to help the environment. The empty toners and cartridges are then shipped to Australia to be processed in HP’s recycling facility. This significantly reduces the amount of plastic that ends up in PNG’s landfills and oceans.
SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Theodist is PNG’s sole importer of genuine Reflex paper – a carbon-neutral office paper that is manufactured to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) standard.
To aid with the nationwide single-use plastic bag ban, Theodist shopping bags are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, and 100% biodegradable.
We have a large range of PEFC and FSC-certified products and are always looking to increase this range.
