The Student Books have graded reading texts and skills pages. The Teacher Guide has lesson plans and a week-by-week program for teaching the foundation skills of English literacy over the four terms in the PNG school year. Together, the Student Books and Teacher Guide identify the skills and provide the activities needed to develop early grade speaking, reading and writing in English.
SBC English supports the Department of Education's Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) English Syllabus. At Elementary One, the content is aligned with the Elementary One Content Standards in the Syllabus. Assessment tasks in the Teacher Guide give feedback to teachers to ensure that their students achieve those Content Standards by the end of Elementary One.
SBC English is a comprehensive, standards-based English program. It will provide the foundation for future learning.
