Word Study = Spelling + Phonics + Grammar + Vocabulary
Word Study integrates spelling, phonics, grammar and vocabulary.
Elementary 2 is the foundation. It covers all the common words in the new Standards-Based Elementary English Syllabus. Grade 3-8 revise words from previous years and introduce new words. By Grade 8 students will have high-level skills in spelling and literacy. They will be ready for Secondary School.
Bilum Books Spelling and Word Study is a planned program from Elementary 2 to Grade 8 with a Student Books and a Teacher Guide for each year. It teaches:
- Sight words - common words that must be known by sight.
- Phonics - sounds and letter patterns of words.
- Grammar - structure and function of words.
- Vocabulary - meaning of words; knowledge and understanding of words.
Student Books - Foundation E2
- Structured activities develop each student's skills in spelling and English.
- Each book has 4 terms, 10 weeks per term.
- Each week has a daily teaching plan: Monday to Thursday and a spelling and dictation test every Friday.
- Two-word lists for each week: Group 1 'sight words' and Group 2 'sound words' teach word recognition, spelling patterns, sounds and vocabulary.
