The series was launched at Theodist's Port Moresby Branch on August 22, 2023, in conjunction with the 2023 National Book Week.
The event featured a shared reading session at the Theodist Bookshop and Reading Corner. Leading up to the launch, the students of BbP embarked on a creative journey to design a brochure titled "All about Me." This was followed by a visit to Theodist Print Shop, where their excitement peaked as they observed their creation being brought to life using Theodist's
cutting-edge printing machinery. Alongside this, they were given the opportunity to operate state-of-the-art printing machines and actively take part in the printing process.
Speaking on behalf of Theodist, Ryan Pini said, "We are deeply honored and excited about this collaboration. It is our way of giving back to a community that has given us so much.
We hope that through this reader book, young minds will be ignited with curiosity about the vast world of printing and design."
The project combines Theodist's state-of-the-art printing technology with the creativity of the students from Buk Bilong Pikinini. The partnership offers an exclusive glimpse into the inner workings of Theodist's graphic design and printing department, inspiring young readers with the enchanting possibilities within the realms of printing and design.
Founder and Chairperson of Buk Bilong Pikinini, Anne-Sophie Hermann, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "These books serve as guiding beacons for children, introducing them to a spectrum of careers. We believe that as these young minds explore the pages of our books, they are envisioning the boundless opportunities that lie ahead in their future."
In the spirit of Book Week celebrations, Theodist Ltd also made a donation of K50,000 to Buk Bilong Pikinini (BbP). This generous contribution will further support BbP's noble mission of enriching educational outcomes for the children of Papua New Guinea.
Since 2014, Theodist has proudly held the status of a Gold Sponsor for Buk Bilong Pikinini. This collaboration serves as a clear example of our unwavering dedication to promoting early childhood education among our children, as well as improving access to education and literacy in Papua New Guinea.
Additionally, we've set up BbP's reading corner and bookshop within our Waigani shop with proceeds from book sales directly contributing to Buk Bilong Pikinini's initiatives.
